Welcome to the Resident’s Corner!

We will be posting updates of services in the community and information relevant to Public Housing residents. The Family Self-Sufficiency Program is a great way to get your life back on track with an advocate at your side! Resident Advisory Board (RAB)

What is the RAB?

The RAB is a board whose membership must adequately reflect and represent the residents assisted by the Housing Authority.

RABs are expected to be actively involved in development of the Housing Authority’s Plans. RABs should reach out to ensure the views of all families in Public Housing are as well represented as possible. Residents also should make every effort to be informed, should volunteer for membership on RABs, and generally should be involved in the development of the Plans through the RABs.

What’s in it for you as a resident?

  • First of all, you’re making sure that your voice and opinion is heard in making decisions regarding your neighborhood and how to spend certain funds that the Housing Authority receives.
  • Secondly, it’s a great opportunity and resume builder. You will be able to network with many agencies and build relationships with the Housing Authority and other Public Housing residents.
  • Thirdly, you get to voice your complaints and help come up with solutions for neighborhood woes or inadequate policies.

The next tentative date for the RAB meeting will be on Thursday, September 23, 2010. More information will be mailed about the time and location of this meeting.
